“There are historically rooted people in Altadena’s future”
— Octavia Butler
who we are
We are a collective impact network sponsored by Shared Harvest Foundation. We connect care, capital, and community leadership so recovery becomes long-term resilience.
The Dena Forward Alliance (DFA) was born from the 2025 Eaton Fire—but our roots go deeper. Guided by Shared Harvest Foundation and Dr. NanaEfua Afoh-Manin’s philosophy, we believe the people closest to the pain hold the keys to the solutions.
When disaster strikes, too often outside help bypasses the community. DFA does it differently. We convene residents, youth, elders, churches, and local leaders to co-create recovery that’s equitable, resilient, and rooted in local wisdom.
Why “Dena”?
“Dena” honors Altadena and Pasadena, the heart of our work.
