Taiese D.

Helping has been engraved in who I am since childhood.

Why This Work Matters

Spiritually and helping communities.

On culturally responsive care: Understanding people where they are, from their perspective, and not my own judgements and feelings and having the ability to still help them with what they need.

Connection to Altadena

It's my history.

Meaningful tradition: Christmas tree lane and my church Pasadena Church Of Christ.

In my work: It is everything that created me.

A Defining Moment

My younger cousin tells me every time he sees someone in need he thinks of me and wants to

help.

How this shapes my work: It motivates me to do my best even when I don't think anyone is

watching and it makes me cry every time I think about it.

Vision for the Future

My hope for Altadena: A community that can learn from each other to bridge the generational gap and provide support for all.

What I hope families feel: Love

Bringing to the Work

Strengths: My smile and my ability to make others smile.

On collaboration: Managing care for those who don't know what that looks or feels like.

Beyond the Work

What brings me joy: God

Favorite genres: Other

When not volunteering: Hanging with friends and playing pickleball.

Fun fact: I love my sister so much.

Words I live by: "God is Love"
